American Black Walnut is a highly pigmented darker hardwood with a rich, attractive coloured grain that is often compared to mahogany.
The timber is used for a number of internal projects where it is easily worked and polished. Walnut is also ideal for steam bending.

Working qualities
Black Walnut is easy to work and can be stained and polished to an exceptional finish with its particularly beautiful grain patterning. Heartwood colour is rich dark brown to purplish-black, with sapwood a pale yellowish-brown. The grading rules allow for more knots and defects than other timbers, something to consider with regards to wastage.
